About me
I am an experienced licensed counselor who is passionate and dedicated to helping individuals manage symptoms stemming from trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood dysregulation.
My name is Venessa Chambers (pronouns: she/her/hers), and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, but more specifically, I am someone who holds space for you in the hope of igniting a spark of resiliency and healing from within. I earned my degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio – Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I am a National Certified Counselor. I provide services for adults 18+ and Spanish-speaking individuals who experience depressive symptoms, anxiety, grief and loss, substance use and personality disorders. I work closely with you to help with focus, healing, managing and regulating emotions stemming from years of pain, conflict, and overwhelming thoughts and emotions. Additionally, I work with couples and families to help restore balance and harmony in their lives. I am a Certified First Responder Counselor delivering therapeutic services to Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue, Doctors, Nurses, and Military personnel.
I am a trauma-informed, emotionally focused counselor, and I use a person-centered approach with consideration to where you are in the therapeutic process, attending to your individual needs. My treatment approach is tailored with you in mind, with an understanding of personal experiences, cultural identities, and overall life situations. I apply a variety of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I assist with stress management by employing relaxation techniques, such as Deep Breathing Exercises, Mindfulness Meditation, Grounding, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, and Guided Imagery. These strength-based techniques provide focus and will be most helpful throughout the therapeutic experience.
Walking the path toward growth and progress becomes overwhelming at times, but you don't have to walk it alone. My goal is to walk alongside you with the confidence of uncovering the strength and the power of healing within you.
