Ut Uyen VanHoogen, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor (LPC, LPC/S) with nearly two decades of experience helping individuals, couples, and families find healing, direction, and renewed purpose. My approach bridges clinical excellence with Christian faith, addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—for lasting transformation.
I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University, a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Saint Martin’s University, and a Pastoral Counseling Certificate. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Christian Leadership at Liberty University, focusing on the integration of theology, leadership, and counseling to strengthen families and communities. Using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and solution-focused interventions, I help clients uncover root issues, build resilience, and grow in emotional and spiritual wholeness.

I’ve always believed that counseling is both a professional calling and a ministry of the heart. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting with people in some of their most difficult seasons—helping them make sense of their stories and reminding them that healing is possible. My journey as a counselor began long before I earned my credentials; it began with a genuine desire to understand people, bring hope, and help others grow in their faith and relationships.

I’ve worked in community mental health, medical clinics, private practice, and ministry—serving teens, adults, couples, and families from all walks of life. Through those experiences, I’ve learned that no two stories are the same, but every person has the capacity for growth and renewal.

In my sessions, you can expect a blend of warmth and truth. I create a space that is safe, nonjudgmental, and focused on progress. I will listen to your story with compassion, but I will also challenge you to think differently and take steps toward meaningful change. For clients who desire faith integration, we’ll draw from biblical principles to align your healing with God’s purpose and peace.

When I’m not in session, you’ll find me leading programs through Overflow Ministries, mentoring young adults, teaching in our Christian homeschool co-op, or simply enjoying time with my family. These experiences continually remind me that growth happens in community and that God’s grace meets us right where we are.
