About me
Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have experience working with people of all ages heal from trauma and cope with stress, depression, and anxiety.
Hi there! I am trans-masculine and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with many different people in my practice and my passion is helping LGBTQIA+ people to heal and improve life. Even when we aren't focusing on gender and sexuality, sometimes it’s just easier to work with someone who understands where you are coming from. I currently provide individual telehealth services for adults 18+ at Affirm Counseling as well as in-person at Integrated Counseling and Wellness for children, adolescents, and adults
Approach
My approach to counseling is Client Centered and I draw on theories of Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child Centered Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and other Narrative approaches.
Education
My formal training is in Psychology, Clinical Counseling, and Play Therapy through the University of Northern Colorado, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2014) and a Masters degree in Clinical Counseling (2018).
Experience
My journey as a counselor started with the course work at UNC and further developed with my clinical work experience. I have provided individual and group counseling services to gender expansive people of all ages at centers focused on gender.
I have experience working in a variety of other settings such as mental health hospitals, substance use treatment centers, and in mental health clinics specializing in treatment of sexual trauma in children and adolescents.
What are sessions like with me?
A metaphor I like is to think of our time together as if we were taking a road trip. Essentially I believe that you know yourself better than I ever could. That's why you're the driver, you choose the direction and topics that are important to you. I'm the passenger, I have some knowledge and experience to share with you, as if I were holding a road map. When we come to a crossroads I may have some knowledge, skill or insight to offer. Ultimately, as the driver you decide our course and it's my job to help guide you on this journey.
Reaching out for help can be one of the hardest decisions and I commend you for searching for the right counselor. If you feel that I might be a good fit please reach out for a free consultation. You can expect me to email/text you within 48 hours with some times that might work in the next few days.
