Tobias Larson

I am a counseling intern with a lifetime of experiences and a desire to help people address the mental and emotional struggles they face in life. As a former classroom teacher, I am great with youth and parents. As a former tech founder, I am great with adults who are facing their own challenges and struggles. As a former high school athletics coach, I am great with people who have high ambitions and are feeling the emotional drain that comes with a high-achievement lifestyle. As a sport psychology consultant, I have worked with elite individuals (athletes, actors, and musicians), maintaining their privacy and providing great support without ever asking for a piece of the spotlight.

Fundamentally, I love people and am accepting and curious about everyone I meet. I have been through my own personal journeys, starting with being born with a major birth defect, getting advanced degrees with dyslexia and ADHD, and to being a divorcee. Although I do not bring the answers to the problems you are facing, I have the experiences that allow me to provide a deep sense of empathy to validate your experiences. I know how it feels to be unseen and ignored and I too have enlisted therapy as a way to help me through difficult moments in my life.
As a counselor, I am focused on learning you, and really understanding your life. I am humanistic in my approach, meaning that I see the connection we build in therapy as a crucial part of our work. In terms of approaches, I use mindfulness, CBT, ACT, and somatic approaches. I am learning EMDR and am working towards advanced certificates in trauma and grief counseling. I am also trained in play therapy and welcome in clients 4 years old and up.
