About me

I am an experienced therapist that specializes in trauma-related issues, including but not limited to anxiety/depression, substance abuse/addiction, family dysfunction, legal/criminal issues, etc. I have over 20 years of experience and own/operate a Georgia Licensed Intensive Outpatient Treatment facility at our Savannah location. We have three other locations within the southeast to serve rural areas. Additionally, we have the capacity to offer residential services for Substance Abuse

My name is Timothy Jay Strickland. I grew up in Glennville, Georgia, and now reside in Pembroke, Georgia. I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Master’s Degree in Education Counseling in 1998 and have worked in the field of counseling for over twenty years. I have extensive experience working with adults with mental health and substance abuse issues. I am a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor. I am a Georgia approved Clinical Evaluator and Treatment Provider for the DUI Intervention Program and have certifications in Relapse Prevention, Clinical Supervision, and Anger Management. In this program, I assist individuals in meeting requirements to get their driver licenses reinstated after multiple DUI’s on their record. I am also certified by the Federal Department of Transportation to provide substance abuse services to employees that are in DOT Safety Sensitive Positions who may have tested positive for alcohol and/or drugs. As a Substance Abuse Professional, I serve as the initial point of contact to establish parameters of change necessary for an individual to safely return to duty via initial assessment and follow up sessions that are required by employers and the Federal government. Further, I am certified as a Substance Abuse Expert as recognized by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission to provide Alcohol/Drug evaluations during investigative mandates for ensuring Authorized Access for nuclear plant workers and contract workers in the United States. Additionally, I am contracted with over a dozen EAP companies to provide Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment, ranging from United States Postal Workers, Unions, Georgia Department of Corrections and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency. In addition, I am the Clinical Director of The WISE Place, a female residence that encompasses the 12-Steps of recovery from a Faith-Based initiative, whereby women are exposed to Celebrate Recovery and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings along with Cognitive Behavioral curriculum to advance their understanding of the disease of addiction. The WISE Place is a Parole THOR approved facility. The women are afforded an opportunity to benefit from a structured program with a high degree of accountability in a safe environment to learn new behaviors and establish more healthy attitudes about life choices that lead to better coping strategies to cope with life issues without the use of chemicals. Each resident is given the opportunity to get individual and group counseling, along with peer support groups, and help in establishing full time employment and support in transitioning into a recovery lifestyle beyond our care. After care counseling is offered, as well. In 2013, I was fortunate to be honored as Georgia’s Licensed Professional Counselor Association’s Counselor of the Year for the development and oversight of a Long Term Residential Treatment facility and extensive work done with an Outpatient population to bring about positive changes in men and women who suffer from addiction in the Bulloch County area as a Treatment Provider for Bulloch Recovery Resources. Finally, for the past year, I have been the Clinical Director of the Intensive Outpatient Treatment program for New Day Counseling in Savannah, GA. I have brought my energy, insight, and professionalism to the forefront to New Day Counseling to add to their already professional and competent staff so as to provide high quality, responsive care to the citizens of Savannah and the surrounding Low Country.
