About me
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC), and certified somatic experiencing practitioner. Somatic experiencing is a holistic body-mind practice designed to resolve trauma and restore a sense of wholeness in body, mind and spirit. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and with narcissistic abuse recovery.
What we identify as the problems in our lives are typically symptoms of something deeper that needs attention. If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, mood instability, stress, trauma, or personal relationships, it always comes back to the relationship you have with yourself. Our emotions provide information that helps us gain a better understanding of who we are, and tune us into those things that are out of balance in our lives. For me, therapy is a healing journey intended to increase awareness, restore balance, and guide individuals toward the optimum version of who they can be.
One of my favorite quotes is from Peter Levine, – “trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.” As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) an essential part of my practice involves holding space and building resonance to allow for people to come into a deeper experience of who they are.
Other areas of specialization are teens and life transitions. Whether it’s divorce, going to college, midlife transition, empty nesters, or the struggles inherent in the life of a teenager, these are times when we need to redefine ourselves or define ourselves for the first time. These unique challenges provide us with enormous opportunities for growth.
