About me
Have you done talk therapy before, but find yourself still struggling? I combine cognitive therapy with the latest neuroscience / somatic work to help create LASTING change and relief =)
Jean-Paul Sartre said, "Freedom is what you do with what has been done to you." We all have had things done to us. These things do not define us - the key is what we do with them afterward. I believe each and every person has what they need right inside of them; thus, my job is not to fix or change, but to teach skills and tools to help you tap into your true self, that inner source of answers =)
Have you been in talk therapy before, but feel like you're still struggling? Do you know what you want to say, but find yourself reacting instead? Do you sometimes get triggered FEELING you're not good enough or you've done something wrong or you're too much or a bother or _______, even though you COGNITIVELY KNOW it's not true? You are not alone. I combine talk therapy with the latest neuroscience to help understand these dichotomies and create LASTING change and relief. To do this I pull from an eclectic background of therapies to treat the whole system and address what's called bottom-up hijacking, or often referred to as the famous fight, flight, freeze, fawn system.
I have over 30 years in the counseling field and I'm trained in the following modalities
• Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
• Internal Family Systems (IFS)
• Havening
• EMDR
• Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
• CBT
As a therapist, I create a supportive, respectful environment where a person can feel safe sharing their thoughts and struggles, with the biggest factor being non-judgmental! =)
I work with adults and teens who are struggling with the following:
• TRAUMA PTSD
• ATTACHMENT WOUNDING - which can come from helicopter parenting, excessive criticism or shaming, growing up with a parent with substance addiction, growing up where one's needs and feelings were not met or validated, growing up where sense of self was stifled or truncated (do you have a strong internal sense of self [internal locus] or do you struggle pleasing others [external locus]?), or growing up where boundaries were not respected... just to name a few
• PARENTING HELP
• CHILD BEHAVIORAL ISSUES
• ANXIETY
• DEPRESSION
• RELATIONSHIP ISSUES
• CODEPENDENCY
• NARCISSITIC RELATIONSHIPS
• IDENTITY
• SELF-ESTEEM ISSUES
• ADDICTIONS
• DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
• ANGER MANAGMENT
