Teresa McCarthy, LPC

Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) dually licensed in the states of Pennsylvania and Texas...currently residing in Pennsylvania. I have two grown daughters, and love nature and animals...especially dogs. My experience in the field of Mental Health is varied, and includes work in foster care and adoption, domestic violence, and community mental health. In the past 23 years, I have worked in many settings including; home-based, school-based, county psychiatric hospital, and the last three years as a telehealth therapist.

As your therapist, I am devoted to creating a therapeutically safe and trusting environment that is judgement free where you can explore a multitude of life's challenges to include trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, "adulting", codependence, chronic illness, grief, family of origin, attachment issues, self-defeating patterns, women's issues, and more. I have a special interest in women's empowerment, helping those abused as children, and those suffering from chronic illness and pain.

I believe my role in our therapeutic relationship is to serve as a supportive guide and confidant, traveling with you on your journey to a happier and healthier you. We will explore your past, and learn how current core beliefs were formed, and how they are affecting your life today. We will learn new coping skills and reframe negative core beliefs. For those dealing with trauma, past or present or both, we will address through a trauma focused lens, using modalities such as EMDR, IFS, and more.
