About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate, under the supervision of Toni Davis, MA, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor TM. I am dedicated to walking alongside individuals navigating disability/chronic illness, trauma/PTSD, and grief.
I graduated with my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in May 2024. I have worked in various settings throughout my career, including community mental health, non-profit, and hospital work. Most recently, I have worked at the Alzheimer's Association, helping those with dementia as well as their caregivers navigate the complexities of the disease. It is because of this that I have truly seen the value of human connection when faced with a difficult diagnosis.
As someone who was born with a disability and diagnosed with a chronic illness later in life, I can relate to what someone with a new diagnosis may be feeling. You may have thought your life was headed down a great path, when all of a sudden, your life changes. You then have to figure out how to "pick up the pieces" and what you want your new life to look like. You may feel like your friends and family cannot relate, and this significantly affects important relationships in your life. While I can't say that I can relate to your exact story and experience, I can relate to many of the difficult emotions you may be feeling. You may feel stuck, knowing you want to move forward, but you aren't sure how to make that process happen.
My approach begins with the fact that you are the expert on your own life. I don't claim to have all the answers, but will work with you to find your own. The therapeutic relationship is very important to me, as a sense of safety and trust in the therapy room is key in order for any change to occur. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space in order to assist clients in meeting their goals for change. I use a variety of modalities, depending on what works best for the person. I enjoy using cognitive behavioral, existential, solution-focused, as well as expressive modalities in session. I am currently working towards being trained in EMDR and cognitive processing therapies, which have shown to be especially effective with trauma. I hope to have those trainings completed soon, and am excited at the possibility of adding them to my practice.
I work with older teens and adults, primarily 14+, as I am virtual only at this time. I can accept Aetna and Cigna/Evernorth insurances, and my private pay rate is $55 for a 50 minute individual session. I am available most mornings/early afternoons with some weekend availability. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit. Contact me at 254-654-7796 or taylor@sapphirecovecounseling.com to schedule an appointment. I look forward to the possibility of working together!
