About me
We are accepting new clients! I am a relationship specialist, devoted to effective methods that work to help you and your partner team up against patterns in your relationship and reconnect authentically. The result is greater intimacy and a feeling of finally knowing that you deeply matter and are accepted for who you are in your relationship. I am regularly featured in the media (including Forbes, Bustle, and Psychology Today) for my work with couples. I would love to work with you!
Patterns in relationships can feel incredibly difficult to escape and lead to feelings of frustration, exhaustion, and loneliness. These patterns can take many forms, including frequent fighting, escalating conflicts, or lack of emotional connection, oftening leaving couples feeling unheard and misunderstood. I specialize in guiding couples to break these patterns and reach a deeper understanding and love with one another.
Utilizing years of experience and cutting-edge training, my expertise covers a wide range of relationship dynamics, from affairs and high conflict to premarital counseling. Couples therapy, done right, leads to long-lasting comfort and joy in a relationship. I believe emotional connection and love are the most powerful forces in this life and must be nurtured and cultivated. This is why helping improve relationships is my life's work. Join me as I help guide you out of your negative pattern and into a relationship where you can feel safe to be who you are.
My background as a scientist-practitioner has allowed me to develop a deep appreciation for effective, scientifically proven methods. I have published dozens of research papers and have over 300 hours of advanced training in couples therapy methods, specifically, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
EFT, in particular, has a huge body of research support. Ninety percent of couples significantly improve their relationship after EFT treatment. According to a metanalysis, 70-75% of couples coming in with serious relationship distress no longer fit criteria for relationship distress following EFT. The Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) method focuses on exploring underlying emotions that drive destructive patterns. We use authenticity to build deeper emotional bonds by sharing vulnerability as a means of fostering understanding and promoting compassion. Much of EFT is about "scuba diving" into underlying feelings of pain, hurt, sadness, or fear lurking under the surface of destructive cycles - feelings that couples may not be fully aware of, especially regarding the hidden emotions that drive reactive/protective responses. In therapy, we work together to identify, investigate and experience these vulnerable feelings and the messages they convey. Uncovering these "softer" emotions and sharing them directly with your partner is key to a deeper emotional bond. Join me as I guide you two to get to a place where this feels second nature.
The Gottman Method provides evidence-based communication techniques that set the foundation for marital happiness and stability in a relationship. By learning these empirically validated communication skills, couples can transform their relationship to one where it gets better and better over the years. These communication skills come from decades of research about what communication techniques are associated with long-lasting, happy relationships.
My professional approach is characterized by a deep commitment to helping couples develop a more secure and joyful relationship. I facilitate conversations that foster a sense of connection and understanding between partners. It's not uncommon for some couples to feel a sense of wanting more from their relationship, which leaves them wondering how to move forward. If you're experiencing these feelings, I encourage you to reach out to me. Let's get you on the path to the relationship you've been longing for. Through our sessions, together we will work towards a stronger foundation for your relationship. I am passionate and dedicated to using my expertise to improve current and future relationships through effective and scientifically-proven methods and compassionate communication. So, whether you are experiencing conflicts, high levels of stress, or are simply looking to enhance your emotional connection, I am here to help. I hope you reach out here or at our website- I would love to work with you!
