About me
I am an experienced therapist who works with adolescents and adults to help them cope with trauma, grief, anxiety, codependency, and other life challenges.
Welcome to Hope Haven Therapy – A Place to Heal, Grow, and Thrive
I’m Taryn Peterson, a licensed marriage and family therapist and the founder of Hope Haven Therapy. I specialize in walking alongside individuals, teens, couples, and families as they navigate life’s most difficult seasons. Whether you’re experiencing grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, relational conflict, or life transitions, I offer a safe and compassionate space where healing is possible.
At Hope Haven Therapy, I work with those who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or burdened by their past or present experiences—people who are trying to hold everything together on the outside but feel exhausted or alone on the inside. You don’t have to carry it all by yourself. You deserve support that honors your story, strengthens your sense of self, and helps you move forward with clarity and confidence.
What I Offer
In my practice, therapy is not just about coping—it’s about cultivating hope, fostering resilience, and making meaningful change. I tailor the therapy experience to your unique needs, goals, and life context. Some of the areas I frequently work with include:
- Trauma Recovery: Including PTSD, childhood trauma, abuse, and complex grief
- Grief and Loss: Processing the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or other profound life losses
- Adolescent Therapy: Helping teens navigate anxiety, self-harm, peer pressure, identity, and family changes
- Women’s Issues: Addressing perinatal and perimenopausal mood challenges, burnout, self-worth, and boundary work
- Relationship Struggles: From communication breakdowns to navigating betrayal, disconnection, or transitions
- Faith and Spiritual Abuse Recovery: Supporting clients in deconstructing painful religious experiences and reclaiming their voice
I also offer intensive therapy sessions and AAMFT-approved supervision for pre-licensed clinicians. Teletherapy is available for clients across Tennessee.
My Approach to Therapy
My therapeutic approach is integrative and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as:
- Brainspotting and EMDR for trauma and nervous system regulation
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to shift unhelpful thought patterns
- Narrative Therapy to help clients reclaim agency and reauthor their stories
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and attachment-based work
- Motivational Interviewing to support readiness for change
- Solution-Focused Therapy to build on strengths and move toward goals
Above all, my work is guided by deep respect for your lived experience and a belief in your capacity to heal. I am here to walk with you—not to fix you, but to support the unfolding of your own strength and insight.
I also bring my own lived experience to the work. I am a breast cancer survivor and someone who deeply understands what it means to walk through life’s valleys. My clients often say they feel truly seen, accepted, and encouraged in our sessions—no matter where they are in their journey.
A Haven of Hope
The name Hope Haven Therapy reflects what I aim to provide: a place of rest, support, and possibility—a space to feel safe and begin again. Therapy isn’t always easy, but it can be life-changing. Here, you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to show up. I’ll meet you with compassion, insight, and care.
If you're ready to explore what healing might look like for you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. You can reach out for a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
Let’s begin your journey toward healing, growth, and thriving—together.
