About me

I am an experienced professional counselor and Registered Play Therapist with 19 years of experience helping children, teens, adults, couples, and families find healing, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and reaching out for support isn’t always easy. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, family concerns, or simply feeling stuck, you don’t have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy.

I’m Tara, a professional counselor with 19 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I’m also a Registered Play Therapist, and I have a special appreciation for meeting clients where they are—whether that means talking through difficult experiences, learning practical skills, strengthening relationships, processing trauma, or helping a child communicate through play.

My style is warm, genuine, compassionate, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should feel like a safe place where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. I’m an active therapist, so I won’t simply sit back and listen. I’ll ask questions, help you recognize patterns, offer new perspectives, teach practical skills, celebrate your progress, and gently challenge you when it may help you grow. And yes, there can be room for humor and laughter along the way.

I use an individualized approach that may incorporate CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, client-centered therapy, and play therapy based on your needs and goals.

One phrase that guides much of my work is “Awareness creates choice.” When we begin to understand ourselves, our experiences, and the patterns influencing our lives, we create opportunities to respond differently.

You don’t need the perfect words or a clear plan before coming to therapy. Come as you are. We’ll start there and work together toward greater understanding, healing, connection, and meaningful change.
