About me
Hi, and thank you for making this step. Looking for a therapist can be difficult, so please take your time. I specialize in Internal Family Systems (parts work), ADHD, Parent Coaching, CBT & Person Centered Therapy. I have an assortment of tools in my toolbox, & not one size fits all. I like to explore with the client what approaches might work for them personally. I am certified in EMDR, and only use that intervention when I believe it is clinically appropriate for the client.
Sooo, I have been a practicing LCSW for over 25 years. I worked in the school system for years with elementary and middle school aged kids as a school based therapist. I loved working with kids and being on the school schedule so I could be home when my kids were. I have also worked in numerous hospitals doing assessments and clinical work. That work was great, and really helped me understand diagnosis more, and became more in touch with the community and the challenges they all faced when it came to community mental health.
I have now been practicing privately for 5 years with adults and I love it. I have a bit of coaching style of therapy, where I work with the client, not just alongside them, and sometimes there is homework! I have taught many parenting classes and worked with children and families for so long that the parent coaching has become a part of my practice. I have recently been certified in and ADHD training and I am so curious ADHD, how it affects people differently, how hormones can play a role, and the dopamine/brain part of it, and also it's links to Anxiety and Depression.
Internal Family System (parts work) has become one of my favorite ways to work with people. It's so simple and forgiving.
