About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in Michigan. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I am here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. Therapy offers a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings. Asking for help takes a lot of courage, but can be extremely rewarding. I look forward to working with you.

I work with all sorts of clients. Primarily, my clients range in age from late adolescence (17+) to geriatric (65+). Clients can be cisgender males, females, and all members of the LGBT-QIA+ community. As a board-certified addiction counselor, many clients who have addiction issues in addition to their trauma-based anxiety, depression, and anger issues. The ideal client has thought about seeking therapy or has sought therapy before but was been left wanting and unsure of its capacity to provide them with a better quality of life. The therapy used is dependent upon the client's needs and issues. For example, to mitigate anger, depression, and anxiety leading to complex PTSD, one would rely on reconciliation using Narrative Exposure Therapy. For addictions, Motivational Interviewing, Operant Behavioral Therapy, and Compassionate Inquiry. For more generalized issues, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I believe you are the expert of your life; your past, present, and desires for your future. No matter how well someone may think they know you, you know yourself the best. Everyone wears masks. My role is to help you become comfortable enough to remove the mask and express your true self. The most important part of therapy is the relationship between you and me. I am trained and have experience using most therapeutic techniques. We will work together using whichever technique(s) most fit you, your personality, and your lifestyle to work towards reaching your goals. My job is to help you help yourself.
I have been told I am easy to talk with because of my relaxed, easygoing style. I allow others to express themselves in a non-judgmental space. I am listening and present in the moment, allowing you to feel and know you are being heard. I became a therapist because I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people. The only path of life I know is my own. Being a therapist allows me to be invited into others' lives, learn about their previous past experiences, and offer suggestions to help navigate their present and future.
The goals you want to work towards and achieve are goals and objectives that are unique to you. My only goal is to help you help yourself. None of us will ever be perfect. Our goal should always be progress, not perfection
Our first meeting, often referred to as an intake, will be spent getting to know each other. It will be the start of our therapeutic relationship. We approach it as a conversation. It is just as important for you to get to know me as it is for me to get to know you.
