About me
I am a Los Angeles-based therapist specializing in using narrative techniques to help individuals, couples, and families navigate difficult changes and obstacles.
Your life is a story. You may tell it different ways to different people at different times; you may tell it different ways to yourself at different times. But most importantly, the story is still in progress—even the parts that have already happened. You may feel defined by the successes, the failures, the traumas, the epiphanies in your life, but it's your story; you are ultimately the one who decides what roles these events play. Understanding how and why you tell it—and the ways culture, society, and other external forces have influenced it—is the key to unlocking new directions and new possibilities.
When I began pursuing a career in psychotherapy after 25+ years working as a writer and editor, I realized the practice was in many ways an extension of that craft. Being able to look at your past and your present as parts of a story to be assembled as you please can liberate you from the idea that you are destined to follow a familiar or undesired path.
Finding a therapist who fits what you need, even if you don’t know what that is exactly, can be—and should be—complicated. Our first meeting will be free of charge and if we choose to move forward together, we’ll take if from there.
