About me
I am a **neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed therapist** dedicated to supporting children, adults, and families in building understanding, resilience, and meaningful, lasting change.
I’m **Dr. Stephanie Smigiel, PhD, LPC**, the founder of Smigiel Counseling, and I’ve been working in the behavioral health field since 2013 supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families. My work is grounded in a **neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach**, shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable, understood, and respected from the very first session.
I specialize in working with **neurodivergent individuals and trauma across the lifespan**, from early childhood through adulthood. I’m trained in multiple evidence-based modalities, including **EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), the Unified Protocol (UP), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)**, and I thoughtfully tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, goals, and strengths. My goal is to partner with clients in a collaborative and supportive way, helping them build practical skills, deepen self-understanding, and create meaningful, lasting change.
