About me
Sophie has over 20 years working in various mental health settings with young adults, adults and geriatrics. A major focus in her work has been anxiety management and complicated grief while helping her clients develop healthy coping skills, reduce stress and prevent burnout. Long term experience within the hospice setting has allowed Sophie to gain a greater understanding of the many layers of grief and the ability to recognize that the feeling of loss is not something that ends but, instead, is part of a transformative journey.
As a clinical social worker, in my private practice, I offer personalized, client- centered therapy services, addressing a wide range of mental health issues with compassion and expertise. I believe in creating a safe, inclusive space where clients can explore the challenges and work toward meaningful change. My mission is to empower individuals and communities through skilled, empathetic care.
My approach is a systems perspective. This approach explores how people interact with their environments - physical, social, and cultural environments, and how these interactions affect and impact both the person and their environments. Her therapeutic approach is to evaluate each person within their environment, provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She utilizes compassion and understanding while working with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
My areas of clinical practice include: Living with a serious illness, complicated grief and loss, life transitions, and substance abuse. My goal with every client is to build a relationship of trust, honesty, and openness so clients can create the change and shifts in life that are desired and impact their lives in ways they want. I have a sense of curiosity and I take the time to build the trust and sense of safety that clients have a right to create.
