About me
Hello,
I’m Sian, an Integrative Psychotherapist based in the UK. I work with adults who are navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, stress, low mood, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, self-doubt, and feeling disconnected or stuck.
My approach combines CBT, Humanistic and Psychodynamic Therapy, alongside Polyvagal-informed practice. This allows me to tailor therapy to you as an individual, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
A core part of my work is helping you understand your emotions, your nervous system, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. We can explore why you might experience fight, flight, freeze or shutdown responses, and how these can affect your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships. Developing this understanding can help you feel more in control and respond to difficult situations with greater awareness and self-trust.
My Story
My interest in emotional wellbeing is also shaped by my own experiences. As a child, I experienced chronic panic attacks that continued into adulthood. For many years, anxiety and fear had a significant impact on how I experienced everyday life. I know what it can feel like when your body feels constantly on alert, when your thoughts are difficult to switch off, and when fear can make you question yourself and what you are capable of.
There was a time when I felt stuck in patterns of worry, fear and self-criticism. I did not always understand why my body and mind were responding in the ways they were, and I found it difficult to see how things could change.
Therapy became an important part of my own journey. It helped me understand the connection between my experiences, my thoughts, my emotions and my nervous system. I began to recognise my triggers and understand that some of the responses I was experiencing were connected to what I had been through. Over time, I learned ways to regulate my emotions, manage panic, develop greater self-compassion and feel safer within myself.
My experiences have given me a personal understanding of how difficult it can be to live with anxiety and emotional overwhelm, but they have also shown me that change is possible. I don't believe that our past has to define who we are or how we experience the rest of our lives.
This lived experience, alongside my professional training and clinical experience, has shaped the therapist I am today. I know that reaching out for therapy can feel difficult, particularly if you have spent a long time trying to manage things on your own. My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can be open about what you are experiencing without feeling that you have to hide, minimise or explain everything perfectly.
How I Work
In our sessions, we may explore:
- how your nervous system responds to stress and difficult emotions
- emotional regulation and ways to feel more grounded
- how past experiences may influence how you feel and respond today
- attachment patterns and relationships
- anxiety, panic and overthinking
- self-esteem, self-worth and confidence
- boundaries and learning to prioritise your own needs
- emotional patterns and behaviours that may no longer be helpful
- how your thoughts, emotions and body can interact
- how to develop healthier and more supportive ways of responding to life's challenges
My aim is not to tell you what you should do, but to help you better understand yourself and make sense of what you are experiencing. Together, we can work at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you.
A Space for You
Therapy can give you the opportunity to slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface and explore things that may be difficult to process on your own.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety, panic, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, the impact of past experiences, or simply feel that you have lost your sense of direction, you do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy.
You can bring whatever you are experiencing, and we can work through it together.
I look forward to hearing from you.
