About me
I am an international counseling psychologist that specializes in trauma services and community psychology (PhD). I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a clinical drug and alcohol counselor (LCADC) in the state of NJ. For over 20 years, I have specialized in child and family psychology with a particular focus in the multicultural experience and the trauma associated with experiences such as migration, acculturation, and cultural and gender identity development. From a trauma-informed foundation, I utilize a variety of techniques to foster healing of multicultural and generational related traumas.
Methods include traditional psychoanalysis as well as client-specific cultural and indigenous informed practices. Individual healing is fostered through the lens of liberation psychology. Families are engaged as a system through a Gestalt inspired approach, by treating parts within the whole family system over the development of the lifespan.
As a child of an immigrant, and a mother of five inter-ethnic children, I share the lived experiences that are associated with generational trauma and challenges regarding migration. Over the course of my career, I have published in several venues advocating for human rights and child welfare, highlighting the need for policy change.
