About me
I am a private practitioner and am seeing clients in-person at my Northern Colorado office in Longmont. I also provide Teletherapy to residents in Colorado.
I utilize an approach to therapy which honors each individual’s experience while empowering clients to build resilience, solve problems and approach life with hope and courage.
I have extensive experience working with adult and adolescent individuals on a wide variety of issues, and also in working with the elderly.
I am also trained in Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems, which I use to help clients process their life’s trauma (both past and present) and apply in the Gottman Method of couple’s counseling. I work with Catholic couples for premarital coaching (before the wedding), marriage coaching (2 months to 1 year after the wedding) and marriage counseling (1 year after the wedding and beyond).
With my training and life experience, I help my clients bridge the gap between mental and spiritual health.
Sheryl Roberts brings unique life experiences and a passion for helping people into play as a therapist who is interested in the interplay between spiritual and mental health. She interned at TRU Hospice in Lafayette, Colorado as a grief counselor and is working in private practice supporting the Catholic community in Northern Colorado.
Prior to receiving her counseling degree, Sheryl lived for twelve years in the South East Asian country of Cambodia as a missionary where she served with her husband of over thirty years and their ten children. This life experience sparked her counseling interests in Third Culture Kids, cultural acculturation and adaptation for expatriate workers, faith-informed marriage and family issues and grief and loss.
Sheryl uses a somatic-based approach to therapy which honors each individual’s experience while empowering clients to build resilience, solve problems and approach life with hope and courage. With her training and life experience, she helps clients bridge the gap between mental and spiritual health and to understand the importance of holistic healing which includes body, mind, soul and spirit.
She also uses the Gottman Method of couple’s counseling to support marriages and partnerships which are in trouble or just seeking a better more satisfying connection. Within this modality, Sheryl works with couples for premarital coaching (before the wedding), marriage coaching (2 months to 1 year after the wedding) and marriage counseling (1 year after the wedding and beyond).
