About me
I am passionate about helping helping families cope with mental health issues. I am SYMBIS certified for premarital and marriage counseling, I am a certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDI). I help with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, anger, and positive parenting or children. I work with children over 5 to adults in retirement.
I received my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I worked in both a private practice and a hospital settings.
I wrote a book "Incredible, Edible Gluten-Free Foods for Kids" which was the first directed towards children with gluten sensitivities. Half of my recipe testers had children on the ASD Spectrum, not Celiac so I learned about the relationship with food and mental health.
I'm a good storyteller, so I can turn a realistic story into a learning opportunity to engage the children I work with. I facilitate a group to teach positive parenting skills.
I try to have fun while we work through whatever brings you to therapy to build rapport, deepen our connection, and provide creative ways to deal with the symptoms you are experiencing.
I am a person-centered therapist, but I use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
I'm passionate about helping families impacted by ASD and the family members involved.
I look forward to meeting with you and seeing if we are a good fit. No judgement here, just understanding and respect.
