I am an experienced clinical social worker with over 30 years of direct practice specializing in supporting children, adolescents, and adults with diverse needs. I am dedicated to supporting the regulation of their emotions and developing skills for self-management through the use of eclectic therapeutic interventions including developing mindfulness and movement-based practices to promote self-management for individuals, as well as those who are care providers.
I typically work with older children (middle school), teens, young adults, and adults. Specializes in ADHD, Anger Management, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum, Behavioral, Learning, and Cognitive Counseling, Depression, Developmental Disabilities, Perinatal / Postpartum Thearpy, Family Relationships, LGBTQIA+ Support, Multicultural / Diversity Counseling, Self-harm and Suicidal Feelings, Stress Management, Trauma, and Wellness Practices.
Using a client-centered approach my expertise encompasses an eclectic intervention model designed to support individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including those with special education needs. My treatment approaches include Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Techniques, Trauma-Focused Interventions, Behavior Modification, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Person Centered, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Supportive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Multicultural Therapy.
I am a private practitioner that currently provides supervision as a contractor with The Treatment and Learning Centers and formerly served as the Dean of Students, Senior Social Worker, and School-Wide Diversity Team Lead at The Katherine Thomas School, where she was a valued member of the team for the past decade. She is also the creator of the 3R Instant Mindful Practice with Movements, an innovative approach to mindfulness and emotional regulation that can be used with individuals or in groups settings.
I hold advanced degrees from Simmons University Social Work Doctoral Program, Howard University School of Social Work, Johns Hopkins University School of Education, and University of Maryland Baltimore County School of Social Work. Her expertise extends to using an eclectic intervention model to support those from diverse backgrounds and cultures, individuals within special education (MS), mindfulness (RYT-200) practices, and wellness practices, making her a leader in the integration of mindfulness into diverse settings, including home, education, work and therapeutic settings.
