About me

I am an experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst who is dedicated to helping people with disabilities by teaching coping strategies, emotion regulation, and other life skills that are necessary to thrive in the community. I also am passionate about helping frontline staff - from healthcare to law enforcement - cope with the stresses of the job.

Shannon MacDonald has a master’s in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst and Certified Trauma Professional with more than a decade of experience in effecting positive behaviour changes in her clients. Initially Shannon focused her career on providing early intervention services to children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and other developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Shannon has taken principles from ABA, CBT, DBT and trauma-informed practices to create a unique approach to emotion regulation for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. By breaking down concepts such as mindfulness into discrete steps, individuals with disabilities are able to learn and retain functional coping skills.
In 2019, Shannon began to explore new and innovative ways to use her experience and knowledge. Teaming up with a police officer turned life coach from Maine, USA, Shannon started providing online services to first responders who were suffering from anxiety, burnout and PTSD.
In recent years, Shannon has begun to use the same innovative approaches to help frontline staff working with people with disabilities cope with job stressors.
