About me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My approach to therapy is compassionate, culturally sensitive, and collaborative, focusing on empowering clients to navigate challenges with resilience and self-awareness. I specialize in supporting adults and older adults, particularly dedicated to helping Korean-speaking clients using my cultural specialty. I have extensive experience treating issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationships, and adjustment difficulties. I am especially attuned to the unique needs of immigrants, individuals facing cultural or generational conflicts, and those struggling with loneliness or social isolation. By creating a culturally sensitive and supportive environment, I aim to empower clients to explore their experiences and make meaningful progress toward well-being.
My journey to becoming a therapist began with a deep passion for helping others, especially those from underserved communities. Through my work in various roles, I saw the profound impact that mental health struggles have on immigrant individuals and families, particularly within the Korean community. This experience drove me to pursue a career where I could provide compassionate support to people navigating life’s challenges, helping them find resilience, healing, and personal growth. My work is not only a profession but a calling to foster hope, understanding, and meaningful change in the lives of others.
I believe goal setting is a collaborative journey that respects each client’s unique values, cultural background, and personal pace. I work closely with clients to create realistic, achievable goals that align with their vision and desired outcomes. Together, we break down larger objectives into manageable steps, allowing clients to experience small wins along the way, which helps build confidence and motivation. For me, goal setting is not just about reaching a specific endpoint but fostering growth, resilience, and self-awareness. By incorporating therapeutic tools like CBT, mindfulness, and acceptance-based approaches, I help clients develop skills to navigate challenges and stay connected to their progress, even when the path feels difficult. Throughout our work, I remain flexible, revisiting and adjusting goals as clients’ needs and insights evolve, ensuring that the process supports sustainable change and a greater sense of fulfillment.
