About me

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Specializing in Trauma (EMDR), Anxiety, Depression, Relationship Issues, and ADHD/Autism Evaluations.
Offering compassionate, evidence-based therapy for individuals and couples seeking healing, clarity, and connection. Serving clients online (throughout Florida) and in person (Orlando/central Florida)

I’m Sarah Porter, MA, LMHC, ASDCS. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Orlando, Florida (virtual throughout Florida). I help individuals, couples, and families find healing, hope, and clarity through compassionate, evidence-based therapy. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, parenting struggles, or seeking ADHD or autism evaluations, I’m here to walk alongside you.

I offer 50-minute sessions, both in person and through secure telehealth across all of Florida. My first priority is helping you feel safe, seen, and heard. Therapy moves at your pace. If you’re nervous or unsure, that’s okay. You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin.

Therapy for Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression
Life can leave us with deep emotional wounds. Trauma from our past, overwhelming anxiety, or a sense of depression that just won’t lift. You may feel like you're surviving rather than living. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and healing is possible.

I’m trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a powerful and well-researched therapy designed to help people process traumatic memories and release emotional pain stored in the nervous system. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (often eye movements or tapping) to help the brain reprocess distressing experiences, reduce emotional triggers, and build new, healthier associations. It’s a gentle but effective approach that doesn’t require you to retell every painful detail.

I also integrate CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), mindfulness, and expressive therapies to help you regulate emotions, challenge negative thought patterns, and move forward with more peace and self-awareness.

Supporting Women: Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Beyond
I have a heart for supporting pregnant and postpartum women as they navigate the emotional complexities of motherhood. From identity shifts and sleep deprivation to birth trauma and postpartum anxiety, I help women feel grounded and empowered again.

Whether you’re a first-time mom or managing a growing family, you deserve space to process your emotions without judgment. I offer a warm, nurturing environment where you can be honest about how hard it can be and start to feel more like yourself again.

Therapy for Single Adults and Young Adults
Many of my clients are young adults or single adults in their 20s and 30s navigating loneliness, big decisions, identity questions, or relationship patterns that just aren’t working. You might be wondering who you are, what you want, or how to stop feeling stuck.

I create a nonjudgmental, relaxed space for you to process your story, build confidence, and gain insight. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you connect the dots, learn to trust yourself, and move forward with clarity.

Marriage Counseling, Premarital Support, and Relationship Therapy
Relationships can be a source of great joy or deep pain. I help couples at all stages work through conflict, rebuild connection, and learn how to communicate effectively.

For engaged couples, I offer SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) premarital counseling, a structured and insightful approach to laying a strong foundation. For couples in distress, we explore trust, intimacy, and healing with honesty and care.

Whether you’ve been married for two years or twenty, I offer a safe space to do the work together.

Parenting Support and Adoption-Related Issues
Parenting is beautiful and brutal, and sometimes we all need support. I work with parents navigating behavioral issues, blended families, adoption challenges, or feelings of burnout and guilt. You are not failing. You are human.

If you're parenting a neurodivergent child or navigating trauma histories, I can help you learn practical tools, manage your own triggers, and find new ways to connect with your child.

Child and Adolescent Therapy (Including Sand Tray)
Children and teens often struggle to verbalize their emotions, especially when life feels confusing or chaotic. I offer a gentle, developmentally appropriate space for kids to express themselves through sand tray therapy, creative play, and expressive outlets like art and music therapy. Whether your child is dealing with anxiety, emotional outbursts, or life transitions like divorce or adoption, I work closely with parents to support the whole family system.

Autism and ADHD Evaluations for Kids, Teens, and Adults
One of my specialties is providing comprehensive ADHD and Autism evaluations for children, teens, and adults. These evaluations are ideal for individuals or parents seeking answers, clarity, or accommodations for school, work, or daily life.

I use well-established tools like the GARS-3 (Gilliam Autism Rating Scale), combined with clinical interviews, behavioral checklists, mental status exams, and detailed history-taking. My process is thorough, professional, and compassionate. You’ll receive a clear written report, including diagnostic impressions and a medical letter (when applicable) that you can share with your physician or school. I also provide follow-up sessions to help you understand the results and plan your next steps.

ADHD and Autism Support
Being neurodivergent often means having a brain that works differently, but beautifully. I offer ongoing support for ADHD and ASD beyond the evaluation phase, including therapy focused on executive functioning, emotional regulation, social skills, identity exploration, and self-advocacy.

Whether you’re a parent navigating a new diagnosis or an adult realizing things finally make sense, I’m here to walk with you.

My Therapy Approaches
I tailor each session to your unique needs, drawing from several trusted modalities. My style is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I believe in walking alongside you, not in front of you. While I’m clinically grounded, I also bring encouragement and empathy to every session.

Existential Therapy: This approach focuses on helping you find purpose, freedom, and meaning, especially when you're facing anxiety, major life transitions, or deep questions about identity and direction. It’s ideal for people navigating “what now?” moments in life.

Narrative Therapy: Everyone has a story. Narrative therapy helps you explore the way you tell yours and how to rewrite it. We’ll look at how your past and identity have been shaped, and how to reclaim your voice in the process.

Trauma-Informed Care: I create a space where you don’t have to relive trauma to heal from it. I pay close attention to safety, choice, collaboration, and empowerment, so your nervous system can learn what it means to feel regulated and safe again.

Solution-Focused Therapy: Sometimes, you just need help identifying what’s working and how to do more of it. This approach helps you build on strengths, set clear goals, and experience meaningful change without having to dive too deep into the past unless you're ready.

Optional Faith-Based Counseling
For clients who desire it, I offer faith-integrated therapy from a Christian worldview. I believe mental, emotional, and spiritual healing can go hand in hand. If faith is a part of your story, or something you're curious about, we can incorporate it gently and respectfully into our work.

If you'd prefer a strictly clinical/secular approach, that’s equally welcome. I honor each client’s beliefs and values without pressure or agenda. I have worked with clients from many different religions and backgrounds.
