About me
About My Practice
I am a Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience specializing in Discernment Counseling (Marriage ER), couples therapy, and family therapy. I work with couples and parents during times of transition—when relationship stress, parenting challenges, or a child’s struggles are affecting the entire family.
My approach is grounded in a family-systems perspective. Marriage, parenting, and child well-being are deeply interconnected, and lasting change is most effective when these concerns are addressed together rather than in isolation. Rather than fragmenting care or focusing on a single “identified problem,” I help families understand patterns, strengthen the parental unit, and create greater stability at home.
Marriage ER (Discernment Counseling)
Marriage ER is my Discernment Counseling service for couples on the brink of divorce who feel uncertain about whether to stay together or separate. This structured, time-limited process helps couples slow things down, reduce reactivity, and gain clarity—without pressure toward a particular outcome.
When children are involved, we also consider how parental conflict and decisions may impact the broader family system. Marriage ER is especially helpful for couples who want to make thoughtful decisions rather than acting from crisis or fear.
Couples Therapy
I provide couples therapy for partners who want to improve communication, address long-standing patterns, and strengthen their relationship—particularly in the context of parenting and family life. Parenting stress, unresolved conflict, and major transitions often strain even strong relationships. Our work focuses on understanding these patterns and responding more intentionally.
Family Therapy & Parenting Support
I work with parents of children and teens experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioral concerns, or school-related stress. Parenting under these conditions can feel frightening and self-doubting.
With extensive experience “speaking child,” I help parents understand what symptoms may be communicating and develop practical, workable skills so they can respond with greater confidence. Therapy is intentionally skill-building, helping parents support their child during therapy and long after it ends.
My Approach
Across all of my work, I take a “teach a person to fish” approach. Therapy works best when it builds understanding, confidence, and capacity rather than long-term reliance on the therapist. Progress often looks like increased clarity, steadier emotions, improved communication, and greater confidence navigating challenges as they arise.
Getting Started
I offer a free, brief consultation to help determine whether Marriage ER, couples therapy, or family therapy is the best fit. My goal is to provide a steady, respectful space where families can think clearly and move forward with intention.
