About me
I am Sandra Kather Dye, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the states of Alabama and Massachusetts. For the past four years, I have worked exclusively in telehealth. My primary focus areas are anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and burnout.
I work with people from diverse backgrounds and enjoy this aspect of my work because it allows me to learn from my clients, expand my horizons, and broaden my own perspective in meaningful ways. Throughout the years, my passion has led me to support adult clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and burnout. Oftentimes, these issues are complex and interrelated and can greatly affect existing relationships. Healthy boundaries may have been compromised, and self-care may have been neglected.
When a sense of overwhelm persists, therapy can be a way to address underlying issues. I am committed to creating a safe space for you to work through your emotions without fear of judgment. I will also do my best to provide practical guidance to help you identify and improve existing patterns, including those that may no longer serve you.
Life changes and transitions can force us to leave our comfort zones and find a new or different path forward. In the moment, this may feel like being "stuck," "feeling like a deer in the headlights," or "barely staying above water." I have found, over and over again, that most of my clients already have what it takes to make positive changes in their lives. I see my role as accompanying you on this journey by helping you tap into your inner drive to grow and find a path forward toward reaching your full potential.
While I utilize mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches alongside solution-focused brief therapy and problem-solving therapy, I firmly believe that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach. More importantly, I want to help you find the tools and coping strategies that are right for you. Part of this individualized approach may involve identifying your own strengths and building upon them. Developing a deeper awareness of your needs and wants, the values that propel you forward, and what may have been holding you back can provide insights that lead to lasting change.
Early on, we will have time to get to know each other. I understand that therapy requires mutual trust and that it may feel scary or intimidating to begin therapy with someone you have never met before. I will do my best to create a safe space where you feel comfortable expressing your initial questions and concerns. I want to truly understand your story, so I will listen to what prompted you to reach out for support, the challenges you are facing, and the emotions you are struggling with. We can talk about what you would like to accomplish in therapy and, as we continue working together, collaborate to find ways to achieve the goals you have set for yourself.
To me, it would be a privilege and an honor to be part of your journey. It is amazing to witness transformation taking place. That does not happen overnight, but I find it incredibly rewarding when effort and persistence pay off.
It takes immense courage to take the first steps toward change. I can personally attest to that. The changes I have committed to in my own life have led to a career change, a move halfway across the world, putting down roots in a place I now call home, and starting a family. Whether you are looking for fundamental changes or simply seeking to make small adjustments, I am here to support and empower you on that journey. It is never too late to learn new tools and achieve new and rewarding outcomes.
