About me

I am a bilingual, bicultural, and holistic Licensed Clinical Social Worker who blends lived experience with clinical expertise to support healing of the mind, body, and spirit. I specialize in culturally grounded, trauma-informed, healing-centered, and decolonizing approaches to mental health.

My name is Ruth Yañez, and I am a bilingual (Spanish and English), bicultural, and binational Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I specialize in supporting Latino/e/x immigrants, first-generation individuals, and historically marginalized communities navigating trauma, identity, grief, neurodivergence, and systemic oppression. As a holistic practitioner, I understand that healing must address not only the psychological, but also the cultural, physical, spiritual, and ancestral layers of our lived experience.

I show up to this work not only as a therapist, but also as a neurodivergent woman who lives with ADHD and anxiety. Like many of my clients, I was raised in spaces where mental health was stigmatized and misunderstood. I had to learn how to navigate a neurotypical world through a neurodivergent lens—often without a roadmap. That lived experience is foundational to how I practice: with humility, deep empathy, and a strong commitment to honoring each person’s unique way of processing, feeling, and healing.

My practice, Voces de Vida, was born out of a desire to reclaim voice, dignity, and cultural wisdom. I work to decolonize psychology by challenging Eurocentric norms that pathologize difference and by centering collective care, ancestral knowledge, and language justice. My approach integrates evidence-based modalities like EMDR, CBT, and trauma-informed/healing-centered care with holistic and culturally rooted practices such as emotional processing, somatic awareness, spiritual exploration, and holistic hypnosis.

I also draw inspiration from the work of Carl Jung, especially his teachings on the unconscious, archetypes, and shadow work. These frameworks help me guide clients in connecting with their inner wisdom, healing unspoken wounds, and integrating the many parts of themselves.

I work closely alongside my husband, who focuses on physical health and somatic well-being. Together, we bridge mental, spiritual, and physical wellness through our collaborative offerings. Our shared vision is to create spaces of healing that honor the full humanity of our clients, especially those who have been historically excluded or misunderstood by traditional systems of care.

If you are seeking a therapist who honors both science and soul, who holds space for both pain and potential, and who understands the complexity of cultural and neurodivergent identities—I would be honored to walk with you on your healing journey.
