About me
I have a passion for therapy, and a deep and abiding respect for those who understand that sometimes we just need a little help.
To do this work well, education, trainings, and experience all matter; so do compassion, curiosity, empathy, and genuineness. The thing is, most therapists meet all these criteria and more, so how do you choose who to trust to help you with something as important as your overall well-being? Sometimes a friend or family member offer a personal referral, which is often a good way to go. Or you read therapist profiles and look first for someone who works with your demographic and whatever you would identify are your areas of concern. You then sort through to see whether you get a good feeling about someone. It is often an intangible thing; we just get a sense of whether this therapist may be a good match for us. The therapeutic relationship is often integral to healing. It is sometimes the most important feature of the work we would do together. If you’ve read through my profile, and maybe even clicked ahead to my website and are thinking “maybe”, let’s set up a free 20-minute phone or Zoom consultation so you and I can talk more in depth about what you’re looking for, and about how I do what I do. In the meantime, in a sort of bullet-point style, here’s a bit more I can tell you about me and my approach: If you are a Highly Sensitive Person (an HSP), know that I get it; I’m one, too. I understand anxiety. I know sadness, grief, and depression. I do a great deal of work with couples. I am always grateful for the opportunity to try to help individuals of all ages, and couples in all stages of their relationship, to find their way out of pain and into joy. I believe in the Nurtured Heart Approach. We look at your history —your story, so to speak— to better understand you and to see what needs healing. But then we look at the moment and we look forward. We build on your strengths. And we find ways to develop new ones. I use many different treatment modalities, depending on what is learned in our sessions. Whether you decide to reach out to me or not, thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me. You’ve taken this step, and that means you’re on your way to feeling better. I’m wishing you well! “In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” Albert Camus
