About me

As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider, I implement Rogerian principles to a cognitive behavioral foundation to assist clients with learning healthy coping interventions (cognitive interventions, emotional regulations exercises, and eye movements desensitization and reprocessing) to alleviate their distress triggered by anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or trauma.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider in the state of Tennessee. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Tennessee and my Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Lincoln Memorial University. I have accumulated over 15 years of experience working in the mental health and counseling field. My counseling experiences include crisis stabilization, private practice, faith-based counseling, community-based treatment, residential treatment, and outpatient treatment.
I use an eclectic style of psychotherapy merging multiple theoretical orientations such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Logotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Schema Therapy. I also use my vast knowledge of these theoretical approaches to help my clients identify both their strengths and weaknesses to establish an effective course of action in the development of their individualized treatment plan. As a clinician,” I believe the client is the foremost expert on themselves and it is my responsibility to create a safe environment in which the client is willing to share by earning the client’s trust through the application of the three Rogerian principles: empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.” I utilize a person-centered approach for the treatment of depression, anxiety, anger, grief, interpersonal and family relationships, personality disorders and other mental health diagnoses. This approach allows me an opportunity to implement an array of evidence-based treatment interventions to assist and empower clients through development of self-awareness, identification of healthy coping skills, and intervention strategies. I'm an approved EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) therapist. Lastly, I have a comprehensive understanding of evidence-based techniques, strategies, and interventions effective for establishing self-esteem, healthy communication, and trust to restore your hope, and help mend your family relationships which have been eroded as result of trauma or addiction.
As a member of the 1989 and 1990 SEC Championship football teams at the University of Tennessee and VOL for life (VFL), I enjoy all things Volunteer. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, visits to the beach, trips home on the Gulf Coast, participation in church activities, and service work in the Knoxville community with socially and economically challenged adults and youth.
