I have been a therapist and activist in the LGBTQ+ community for over 45 years in the MD/DC area. My overall goal is to help you with your journey from shame to pride in this often scary world.

For the past four decades plus, I have specialized in LGBTQ+ issues here in the MD/DC area. I currently focus on gender identity issues and assist my transgender clients with navigating their often challenging journeys. As an “out “cisgender lesbian practitioner, I strive to help my LGBTQ+ clients travel from a place of shame to pride. Much of our work centers on self esteem, and the ways in which homophobia and transphobia impact so many areas of our lives (including family, career, and our intimate relationships). I love animals and also do pet loss counseling, as well as veterinary counseling and consulting. My style is interactive and casual. I highly value your confidentiality. Other areas of special interest to me are pet loss issues as well as other issues revolving around our animal companions; adult children of alcoholics; and couples’ communication (I am a certified Imago Relationship Therapist). Even though I have recently focused much of my work on trans issues, I work with clients of all genders and sexualities. I have written for Tagg Magazine regarding queer issues, and I have been voted “Best of LGBTQ/ DC” by the Washington Blade. I enjoy working with all types of intimate relationships, be they monogamous or polyamorous or anything in between! My style is interactive and casual where I try my best to create an environment that is SAFE in every way possible! Confidentiality is my top priority. I have lived and worked in the DC/MD queer community for my entire adult life and I’m aware of most of the LGBTQ+ related resources/referrals in the area which can be a very helpful adjunct to our work together (from health-related resources, to writing groups, to all kinds of support groups)! Finally, I will work with you the best I can to help therapy be affordable for you (even if your insurance company will not cover my services).
