About me
Life’s pressures can weaken your bond with yourself and those you care about. No matter how hard you try, the same hurtful patterns keep coming back. Burying your feelings or relying on unhelpful crutches only deepens the struggle. Counseling gives you room to sort through your story, gain clarity, and practice new skills. As you understand your emotions, you’ll learn to act deliberately instead of reacting on autopilot—and that’s where genuine, self-compassionate growth begins.
I’m passionate about guiding people past misunderstandings to restore their relationships or set healthy boundaries so the hurt doesn’t keep repeating. As a veteran, I’m committed to providing exceptional care for fellow veterans and first responders. With years of experience, I draw on approaches like Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and strengths-based therapy to treat you as a whole person—mind, body, relationships, emotions, and spirit. I’m glad to explore faith and spirituality, whether that’s a conversation about God, another tradition, or none; the choice is entirely yours.
How I Work
• Trauma informed & collaborative. We move at your pace while weaving in evidence-based tools—CBT, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems—through a gentle, strength-oriented lens.
• Whole person focus. Body, mind, relationships, and spirit are interconnected. According to your comfort, we can explore questions of faith, doubt, and meaning—or leave them aside.
• Warmth with clear feedback. Clients experience me as caring, straightforward, and reliable. I aim to create a safe yet purposeful space where insights translate into real-life change.
Specialties
• Medical trauma
• Anxiety, depression, and bipolar spectrum support
• Anger that feels “bigger than you”
• Caregiver and marriage strain
• Grief, loss, and life transitions
What to Expect
Our first session is a 55-minute relaxed conversation about what’s on your heart, what you hope to change, and how we’ll measure progress together. It is offered in person or via secure telehealth.
A Little More About Me
Off the clock, you’ll find me cooking in the kitchen or at the grill. I’m a big family man; I look forward to spending time with my three grown children and nine grandchildren. My wife and I enjoy spending time together and taking short trips together. Spirituality continues to ground my life; if it’s important to you, we can weave it into therapy—if not, that’s perfectly okay.
