About me

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling, a MA in Humanities, and a BA in Psychology. I have worked with all kinds of people from adolescents to adults experiencing a wide range of troubling experiences with anxiety, depression, bullying, grief, and more. Many of my clients are people who have reached a point in their life where old patterns of thought, feeling and behavior are no longer serving them and they desire change. Prior to working in mental health counseling, I served in the United States Air Force and later had a career in business leadership. I live with my wife and children on our family horse ranch in rural Minnesota.

I am a Person-Centered Psychotherapist believing that each person is born with the desire for well-ness and with the wisdom and ability to achieve it. That means you set the pace while we work together to achieve your goals.

My practice focuses on helping adolescents and adults who find themselves feeling stuck and desiring change in patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior that no longer benefit them. These issues may be leading to problems in relationships, unclear or negative feelings of self, and sad and anxious feelings.

My approach to therapy integrates mixed evidence-based treatments to optimize care, while favoring a person-centered/Rogerian therapeutic approach believing that every person has the wisdom, the ability, and the desire to reach their potential through personal growth and change. I partner with clients to be an understanding companion on their trip of exploration toward the relief and increased well-being they desire. I work to honor diversity and embrace a multicultural approach in support of the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of people within their individual social and cultural contexts.

“I know who I am, I know I’m not perfect, but I am good enough.” Good enough for what? “Good enough to expect to be loved and accepted as my authentic self by those from whom I wish this.” This is the aim of therapy, to be one’s authentic self, and this in turn leads to increased well-being and elevated levels of functioning in multiple life domains.

Healing such as this occurs via the experience of time spent with a therapist whose sole intent is to see, know, understand, and accept the client as their authentic self, selflessly and without judgment. This is at the center of my therapeutic approach, and I invite you to reach out to me if you are stuck in undesirable patterns in your life and you desire change.
