About me
Trauma-informed Telehealth Therapist specializing in perinatal mental health and LGBTQIA+ affirming care.
Hi, I'm Raelle "Rae" Kaplan, (they/them), a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a passion for trauma-informed care, reproductive and perinatal mental health, and supporting individuals through life's transitions. I work with adults, adolescents, and families navigating experiences such as conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, loss, grief, identity exploration, and other transformative life thresholds.
As a trans non-binary person, I understand firsthand the complexities of transition and transformation, and I bring this compassion and lived experience into every session. My goal is to create a space where clients feel seen, validated, and supported as they navigate challenges and build resilience. I specialize in helping clients develop their toolbox for the trauma factory of life, offering practical coping-strategies, evidence-based interventions, and collaborative support for emotional growth and healing.
Though much of my work centers on trans, non-binary, and LGBTQIA+ clients (I jokingly say I'm "straight-friendly & cis-inclusive), I also offer support to anyone seeking trauma-informed, person-centered care. I am deeply committed to social justice, anti-oppression, and advocacy, and I integrate these values into my practice to ensure all clients feel respected and empowered.
My therapeutic approach draws from a range of modalities, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS / parts work), EMDR, person-centered therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and feminist/social justice-informed practices. I tailor my approach to meet each client's unique needs, helping them process trauma, manage stress, navigate identity and relational challenges, and create lasting change.
When I'm not in session, I love spending time with my husband and our five cats. I also enjoy art making, movement, and rest practices, and I bring my creativity, curiosity, and humor into my work with clients. I believe therapy should feel human and authentic, and I aim to meet clients where they are while helping them grow, heal, and feel empowered.
Some of my social identities and lived experiences - queer, trans, non-binary, survivor of sexual and physical violence, neurodivergent, multilingual, and physically disabled - inform my perspective and enrich the care I provide. I strive to create a safe, affirming space for clients of all identities to explore their experiences and access the support they need.
If you're looking for a therapist who is compassionate, direct, validating, and committed to helping you build practical skills for life's challenges, I would be honored to work with you. Together we can explore your experiences, process trauma, and develop tools to navigate the complexities of life with resilience and self-compassion.
