About me
Geek out with me while exploring and embracing your strengths to reach your goals!
Does the idea of sitting down with a stranger and sharing your life story and all your deep, dark secrets and flaws give you the ick? The idea of going to therapy can be scary and intimidating, but actual therapy doesn't have to be! I'm passionate about geek therapy and expressive art techniques which can help you explore who you are and who you want to be in a more engaging, comfortable, and fun way! My goal is to provide you with a space where you can be unapologetically yourself while discovering what it means to live authentically and to your full potential. Whether you're struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, low self-esteem or simply feeling uncertain in life, we will work together to identify what you want, what is holding you back, and how to get through it.
I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques in my work. CBT is a gold-standard intervention that helps you identify the relationship between your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors and modify them to better serve you. DBT utilizes mindfulness and skills development to help you find balance and increase your ability to navigate challenging times in life. Mindfulness increases your awareness of yourself and your experience to better meet your mind and body's needs. While a strengths-based approach emphasizes how we can use our strengths rather than focusing on our deficits to increase our confidence in our ability to solve problems. As a geek therapist I will use popular media, video games, and other special interests to provide a different perspective on challenges and an opportunity to practice important skills. And expressing ourselves through art can be a great way to explore who we are or just get our feelings out of us to get closer to peace.
I have openings to see youth and adults for individual counseling in-person or via telehealth. I will soon also be facilitating a DBT group-based Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for pre-adolescents (ages 10-13).
