About me
I am an experienced psychologist who focuses on helping adults of all ages cope with life's challenges ranging from a life transition (such as going away to college for the first time, breakup of a relationship, death of a loved one, or significant health change) to a longer-term struggle (such as depression, anxiety or self-esteem issues) to a traumatic event (such as a car accident, a sexual assault, or other highly stressful event).
After beginning my career in the business world, I decided to go back to school and earn both a master's and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology. Having been a human resources director, I had already had a number of years working with people of all different backgrounds. I bring my knowledge about the importance of communication and relationships into my individual counseling work with adult clients of all ages-age 18 and up. My goal for each client is to help them recognize their strengths, affirm their goals, identify and work on needed changes in order to accomplish their goals, and encourage/support them in living the best version of their life. Listening to, and caring about, each person's unique journey through life is an important part of a therapeutic relationship. I find working with people of different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, cultures, religions, abilities, and sexual/gender differences to be a highly enriching experience.
Services I provide include: counseling (for trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and other life transitions), diagnostic psychological testing for emotional and behavioral functioning, mental health evaluations for immigration (including U visas and VAWA petitions), and career assessment and counseling. I work 2 days per week in my private practice: on Wednesdays and Fridays. I see clients online on Wednesdays from 9-11am CST and in person from 1-6pm CST. On Fridays I see clients either in person or online between the hours of 9am and 5pm CST.
