About me

As a licensed clinical psychologist, my heart's work lies in supporting women & couples through expert care in perinatal & maternal mental health, women’s issues, couples therapy, and therapy for healthcare professionals and therapists.

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Dr. Noor Alwani, the licensed clinical psychologist behind Gentle Illuminations Therapy. My heart’s work is helping women and couples find their way through life’s challenges, rediscover their strength, and live in a way that’s more connected to their inner truth and the people they care about.

Do you feel like you’re carrying the weight of everything—your career, relationships, and the expectations of motherhood—while losing yourself in the process? You give so much to others, yet deep down, you crave the same care, connection, and understanding you offer so freely. It doesn’t have to be this way. You deserve space to nurture yourself without guilt and to build relationships that feel like a source of support, not just another demand. Let’s start with you—so you can show up for the life and love you truly want.

I work with women who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions—especially those related to motherhood, pregnancy, fertility, postpartum struggles, and caregiver stress, including those who are therapists or healthcare professionals themselves. I also support couples seeking to deepen their emotional connection, improve communication, and strengthen their relationship.

I draw from a range of gentle yet effective therapeutic methods, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, we’ll tailor a path forward that aligns with your unique needs, with a focus on lasting change and gentle healing. I also use measurement-based care to ensure our work is impactful and meaningful.

With a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia, I honed my skills for years under the expertise and guidance of seasoned mentors who are just as deeply committed as I am to understanding how to promote healing and create change. I seek to nurture a compassionate space where you feel supported and safe. My goal is always to help you move through your journey with care, trust, and empowerment.

Our work together will feel like a partnership. You’ll be gently guided through your concerns, and we’ll work toward real change—at a pace that feels right for you. My priority is always to help you connect to your wisdom, and to facilitate healing and personal transformation in your life and relationships.

If you’d like to explore how I can support you or your relationship, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you begin this journey of self-discovery.
