Nicholas Meister, LPCC-S

I have seven years of experience working in the mental health field and have worked with a wide variety of clients, and I am passionate about helping those who are survivors of trauma living with post-traumatic stress disorder and dissociative disorders. I also have significant experience working with clients who have ADHD, anxiety, depression and those who are struggling with relationship issues.

Therapy is a space for everyone to bring anything that they need help with, and all are welcome in my (virtual) office! I focus upon being interactive, empathetic, and direct when working with clients, helping to better understand themselves so that they can create lasting change.

I obtained my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Akron in 2018, and am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Designation in the state of Ohio and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of South Carolina, and can work with clients located in both states! In those six years I have been in numerous roles, as a clinician, training supervisor to new clinicians, program manager and director role, and have found that the most joy I get working in the field comes the most from helping clients directly.

Whether we are working through past traumas and better understanding how the past is still impacting the present, and how you can create internal and external changes to better be able to thrive, or working to understand how a neurodivergent brain functions to work better with your brain, I am confident that my clients can create lasting changes. I have been trained in and use a combination of Trauma Focused-CBT, EMDR, DBT and mindfulness skills to help client approach traumatic content and create healing, and also use these to help all of my clients. Therapy is not a one size fits all situation, so I tailor my approach to each client's individual needs so that I can be most helpful!

1. To be provided lots of information and questions that will help you to navigate and create change.
2. To be challenged to sit with your emotions to better understand them, your experiences and yourself.
3. To always be received without judgment or criticism, and given reminders to give yourself grace while holding yourself accountable for the changes you want to make.
4. To have someone to help you navigate the discomfort of growth while you doing the work of therapy and healing.
