About me
Hello! I'm Dr. Nhu Mai. I am licensed to practice in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Over the past decade, I have worked at several universities providing individual and group psychotherapy, crisis assessment and intervention, and clinical and administrative supervision. I have also served in leadership roles as a clinical director, group counseling coordinator, and suicide behavior assessment team coordinator.
I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, life transitions (career changes, mid-life and retirement challenges), burnout, struggles with self-criticism, shame, and people pleasing, emotional dysregulation, boundary-setting, work-related concerns, marital issues, relationship issues between parents and adult children, and relational trauma.
My style is engaging, direct, open, and collaborative. I am here to support your self-discovery, growth, well-being, and the process of bringing more peace, joy, freedom, and balance into your life.
Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and freely explore the intricacies of your private world and life around you. Using an integrative approach, I draw on various evidence-based interventions to help you gain more nuanced insights into your experiences, provide meaningful feedback, and teach practical skills to navigate and cope with challenges effectively. I also focus treatment on enhancing your strengths, emotional and relational awareness, self-compassion, and cognitive flexibility to support the choices and changes that matter most to you.
I am bilingual in English and Vietnamese and deeply value the intersectional role of culture, identity, and family context in the therapy process. I enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, professions, and circumstances.
