About me
Hello and welcome. I'm a licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in individual, couple and family therapy. My goal is to create a safe space and to meet each client where they are. With non-judgmental curiosity I seek to understand your feelings, needs, strengths and challenges. I see clients with diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, orientations, histories and obstacles to growth. Depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and parent/child issues are all addressed through a variety of strategies and techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and others. I've specialized in high and low conflict divorce, most recently with individuals navigating the courts and relationships with their ex-partners. Working with adult children and their parents is another area of specialty. I welcome individuals, couples and families from the LGBTQIA+ communities.
The foundation of my orientation comes from Attachment Theory and Science. Working in this way helps individuals and couples get to the heart of their difficulties and helps to break long standing negative patterns in interactions with oneself, partners, friends and family. Over the years I've worked in community mental health in Native American and Latino mental health centers. Once I became a mother, my focused changed to private practice. Ongoing learning has been important to me so I've completed several trainings in mindfulness and meditation, mediation, LGBTQIA affirming therapy, multicultural awareness and trauma among other topics. This learning has aided me in developing a warm, flexible, non-judgmental, and interactive style. We work at your pace with gentle challenges that move you forward. Therapy is a collaborative process where we both learn from each other in order to gain insight and understanding. I hope to meet you soon! Warmly, Naomi
