About me
My therapeutic approach is person-centered, grounded in the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. I serve as a guide and support as clients navigate interpersonal changes, deepen self-understanding, and move toward healing.
My name is Naemmy Thompson, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia with experience practicing since 2015. My clinical focus includes supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and significant hardships such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, and loss, as well as symptoms related to depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I also provide couples counseling using the Marriage Links perspective and offer a Christian-based therapeutic approach for those who wish to incorporate faith into their mental health care.
My therapeutic approach is person-centered, grounded in the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. I work alongside clients to support interpersonal growth and healing while incorporating Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address thought distortions shaped by traumatic experiences. My goal is to help individuals heal wounds connected to past experiences that continue to impact mental health, while also developing a renewed and hopeful perspective on life.
One of my greatest strengths is helping couples improve communication and safely navigate sensitive topics, including intimacy, in order to strengthen and enrich their marriages. I also work effectively with individuals managing anxiety and depression rooted in trauma. The therapeutic methods I use are flexible and can be applied across a range of concerns, including anger, anxiety, and depression.
Outside of clinical work, I enjoy playing The Sims 4, creative writing, martial arts, archery, listening to Christian music, and continuing to build a strong relationship with God.
