About me

I'm a psychiatrist practicing for 10+ years and a psychoanalyst in training offering therapy, psychoanalysis and medication management.

I completed medical school at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and started my psychiatry training in Dubai, UAE before moving to Wayne State University in Detroit, MI where I completed my psychiatry residency. I completed training for advanced psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute and I am currently enrolled in training for psychoanalysis at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute.

My path to psychiatry and psychoanalysis was shaped by my conviction in the value of an empathic ear. I pursued a career in which I could hone my ability to listen and provide the kind of compassionate care that is often lacking in one’s life or in their experiences navigating the medical system. In my work, I help individuals seeking mental health treatment by prescribing medications, providing psychotherapy and psychoanalytic treatment.

I believe in the value of having an ally that can truly listen. Experiencing deep listening creates the safe space we all need to discover what moves us and what stands in the way of our best performance in meeting life's challenges. Taking the first step to reach out can feel dangerous when you've been struggling, especially if you've been met with negative reactions in the past. You might tell yourself that you don't need help or that there is no help available to protect yourself. I hope to be your gentle ally that can help create the safe space you need to reach your full potential.
