About me
I help adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or shaped by difficult experiences better understand themselves, heal old patterns, and move toward a life that feels more like their own.
Hi, I’m Monique! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and I believe therapy works best when you can actually be yourself in the room. You don’t need to know exactly what to say, have everything figured out, or show up as the most put-together version of yourself. You can just come as you are.
I work with adults who may be carrying trauma, struggling in their relationships, navigating addiction or recovery, dealing with anxiety, or simply feeling stuck and wondering, Why do I keep ending up here? I especially enjoy working with people who are curious about themselves and want to better understand the patterns, experiences, and relationships that have shaped who they are today.
Maybe you’ve noticed yourself repeating the same relationship patterns. Maybe experiences from your childhood or family still affect you more than you’d like. Maybe you’ve survived something that changed the way you see yourself or other people. Or maybe, from the outside, your life looks perfectly fine, but internally you feel disconnected, lost, or unsure of who you are and what you actually want.
Those are the kinds of things we can get curious about together.
My style is warm, down-to-earth, and honest. I’m not going to sit silently and nod at you for an hour. I’ll listen, ask questions, help you connect dots, offer another perspective when I see something you may not, and challenge you when I think it could help. I also use humor naturally because therapy can be meaningful without feeling heavy every second.
I draw from CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed approaches, and narrative therapy, while also incorporating existential and depth-oriented perspectives. In plain English: sometimes we need practical tools for what’s happening right now, and sometimes we need to dig deeper and understand where a pattern came from in the first place. Usually, we need a little of both.
I have a particular interest in trauma and PTSD, unhealthy or abusive relationships, family-of-origin issues, addiction and recovery, veterans, identity exploration, and major life transitions. I also enjoy working with people who find themselves thinking about bigger questions—who they are, what they value, what gives their life meaning, and whether the life they’re living actually feels like theirs.
You don’t need to have all of that figured out before reaching out. Sometimes therapy starts with nothing more than knowing that something isn’t working anymore and being ready to understand why.
