About me
I am a licensed professional counselor. I received my Master of Education degree in counseling from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Houston- main campus. I have a combined 15 years of experience serving young individuals and their parents in a public-school setting and adults in private practice. I have worked for two notable school districts in the Houston area and while working toward my license for the Family Enrichment Clinic, and more recently with Texas Psychiatry Group. I have now established myself as a private practitioner with an interest serving teens, young adults, and women. My specific treatment areas include anxiety, life transitions, loss/grief, depression and educational and career guidance. I am a native Texan. My dominant, primary native language is English and my second language is Spanish. I am confident accommodating Spanish speakers.
My approach to therapy is client-centered and purpose driven, supported by established research and empirically supported techniques. I am your facilitator for reflection, acceptance, correction, or creation as you explore the parts of the therapeutic process used for your growth and self-discovery while in a safe space. Clients should expect to feel heard, seen, validated, and sometimes challenged yet supported. My hope is that you not only take away a deeper understanding of the barriers contributing to their struggles, but also the tools needed to nurture a healthier, new and better path toward self-fulfillment.
I practice traditional approaches to anxiety and depression in relation to loss, grief, and life transitions. I work with teens and young adults on self-esteem, developing healthy mindsets and relationships. I also work with the mind-body connection for women struggling with gynecological challenges, like infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, and menopause. I also offer non-traditional approaches to therapy, one of them being Nature Based Walk & Talk Therapy. If interested in finding out more about this modality, please reach out! Another non-traditional service I offer is Educational & Career Guidance for parents of first generation teens and/or young adults preparing for or already on their college journey. These sessions are meant to nurture and empower with direction, emotional support, and cultural awareness. Another sector of the community I serve are immigrant families by way of Immigration Evaluations established as a non-therapeutic service. Lastly, thank you for taking the time to visit my profile!
