About me
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker and supervisor dedicated to helping children, adolescents, adults, and families overcome life's challenges and build lasting emotional wellness.
Welcome! My name is Michelle Western, MSW, LISW-S, and I am dedicated to helping children, adolescents, adults, and families overcome challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives.
Life can be difficult, and sometimes we all need support navigating stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, behavioral challenges, or major life transitions. Seeking help is a courageous first step, and I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to share their experiences and work toward their goals.
I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan and understand that each person's journey is unique. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, meaning I focus not only on the challenges you are facing but also on the strengths and resources you already possess. Together, we will identify practical strategies to help you manage symptoms, improve relationships, increase confidence, and develop healthy coping skills.
My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, grief and loss, self-esteem, family conflict, stress management, and life transitions. I work with children, teens, adults, and families and tailor treatment to meet each client's individual needs.
I utilize evidence-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other client-centered interventions. These approaches help clients understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while developing skills to manage emotions, improve communication, and create positive changes in their daily lives.
When working with children and adolescents, I believe in partnering with caregivers to create lasting success both at home and in the community. I work to help young people build emotional awareness, improve coping skills, strengthen relationships, and develop confidence in their ability to handle life's challenges.
My goal as a therapist is to help clients feel empowered, understood, and supported throughout the therapeutic process. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply looking to improve your overall well-being, I am committed to helping you identify goals and develop the tools needed to achieve them.
I know that reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to face life's challenges alone. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and lasting positive change.
