About me
I am an experienced therapist (and former school counselor) working predominantly with clients who have/are experiencing Trauma, Childhood trauma/Attachment Wounds, relationship complexities, family dynamics, and healing from narcissistic abuse. I seek to support marginalized populations; LGBTQ+ and BIPOC.
I am a dedicated professional residing in Arizona, have a Masters’s Degree in Counseling, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona. As a passionate advocate for inclusivity and diversity, I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision, with my research and advocacy focused on cultural humility and social justice.
Before moving into the private practice realm, I had a decade of hands-on experience as a school counselor catering to students from K-8 grades. The many years working with youth have contributed significantly to my understanding of human development, the challenges and struggles we can carry from childhood, and the importance of understanding people holistically. I have helped clients maneuver the education environment, provided information related to IEPs and 504s, and have a deep understanding of ADD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Having been actively involved in social justice advocacy, I have a deep empathy for marginalized communities, including communities of color and the LGBTQI+ spectrum. I work from a Relational-Cultural Theory position emphasizing the importance of collaboration, shared power, and mutual learning. I have a deep understanding that systemic factors play a significant role in influencing behavioral health, and it’s essential to me that I extend culturally responsible and relevant therapeutic practices. I have extensive experience working with BIPOC and LGBTQI+ clients-especially with trans adults and teens.
I specialize in trauma treatment and work with clients who have experienced traumatic events and/or who have experienced childhood trauma. I am trained in and frequently use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a method that offers relief from various mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and diverse trauma types. Additionally, I utilize Attachment Theory frequently when working with clients. Additionally, I work with clients needing support and healing from Narcissistic Abuse.
I am registered with the Secular Therapy Project, which helps connect non-religious or secular persons with mental health professionals. I have experience working with clients with religious trauma and also offer a safe space for clients who need support deconstructing religious concepts.
I work with people of all ages, individuals, couples, and families. My practice is solely virtual.
