I am an experienced psychotherapist dedicated to providing researched based mental health and substance use treatment to teens, adults and couples residing in North Carolina.

I enjoy working with teens, adults and couples in treating anxiety, panic, trauma, depression, grief, bipolar I & II, intimate partner violence, personality disorders, suicide ideation, insomnia, substance use, low self-esteem, life transitions, dissatisfaction with life, relationship issues (individual & couples), and work stress. I have received training in various evidenced based interventions such as: acceptance commitment therapy (ACT) to assist clients in understanding how language influences moods and behaviors to guide clients in understanding what is important to them and develop attainable goals by using ACT’s six core processes: being present, self as context, defusion, values, acceptance, and committed action.
As a internal family systems (IFS) informed clinician I incorporate IFS parts work to help clients cultivate appreciation and self compassion for themselves.
I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to support clients in identifying unhelpful ways of thinking created by learned patterns for client’s to develop effective ways of coping.
In the treatment for trauma I am trained in cognitive process therapy (CPT) which is generally delivered over 12 sessions. Like CBT, CPT helps to create a new understanding of traumatic events using education about the brain’s wiring including thoughts and emotions. For couples therapy I am trained in Gottman’s Method for Couples based on over 30 years of research into couple’s behaviors in the development of a practical approach for couples to learn about each other, develop admiration for one another, manage conflict and more. Watching client’s confidence in their capability and desirability grow over time brings me joy.
