About me

I would love to speak with you about the challenges you are experiencing and determining if we would be a good fit to work together. If you are needing to make a change in your life and need help finding a direction and getting started, I would be happy to talk this through with you. All you need to bring with you is a goal to make a change. From there we can build a personalized plan just for you. Sliding scale available on limited basis.
My business:
Mulligan Counseling LLC originated from the idea that everyone makes mistakes and we all deserve a second chance. Life is hard, but it's better when you can learn from your past to create a better future.
"Mulligans" in the game of golf are a "do-over shot." You forget about the last bad hit, and give it a second try. I have found this to be true in my own life, and have benefited from a few "Mulligans" myself.
My goal at Mulligan Counseling is to work with you to find strategies to improve your life. Therapy is all about you and what you need. I tailor my approach based on your personality, goals, and areas where you are struggling. Your story and your strengths are unique to you. Your challenges? Surmountable!
My approach:
I primarily operate from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. Using this approach, I focus on understanding your current thinking and behavior patterns and help you to create new, positive actions. This approach is primarily logic based, but it is important to address emotional concerns as well.
This space is reserved for you. I hope to help you develop confidence in yourself and your choices along your journey. Together we will concentrate on your interests, strengths, passions, and actions that will influence positive change. I am looking forward to meeting you, hearing about your story, your challenges, and your aspirations.
A little more about me:
I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences, and got a job working in the mental health field after graduation. However, when the company I was working for downsized my entire department, I felt that maybe the mental health sector was not for me and pursued a Master's degree in Accounting and Finance from Southern New Hampshire University instead.
My heart was never in the accounting work I was doing, and it did not fulfill the need to be doing something meaningful with my life. I worked as an accountant for several years, and then Covid hit. Life was thrown upside down again, and I ended up switching places with my wife on the career front. She went back to work, and I became a full time stay-at-home dad.
I felt lost for a while, but in the uncertainty, self reflection, and self discovery found that what I was really missing was a fulfilling career where I could help make meaningful changes to people's lives. I was drawn back to mental health field and decided to pursue another Master's degree, this time in a field I was passionate about, Mental Health Counseling.
I believe my non-linear career path has only increased my life experiences and wisdom.
