About me
I work with veterans, first responders, medical and veterinary teams, and the people who carry everyone else — helping them put down the weight, regulate the nervous system, and get back to actually living.
Working with people who push themselves to care for others is something I'm passionate about. Those of us in nursing, LEO, fire, EMS, and veterinary medicine know what it feels like to give everything and still wonder if we did the right thing. We hold people's worst days in our hands and then go home and act like we're fine — until the sleep won't come, the fuse gets short, and the distance from the people we love starts to grow. That is moral injury. It happens to good people doing hard jobs for too long without anywhere to put it down. You are not broken. You are carrying too much alone.
Before becoming a therapist, I was an EMT, then an ER and ICU nurse, and I spent twelve years in veterinary medicine. I'm a U.S. Army combat veteran. Whether you wear a uniform, a badge, or scrubs, I have worn something similar — no translation needed.
I use CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Trauma-Focused approaches, and I pick the tool that fits the moment, not the textbook. Some sessions we work a problem hard. Some sessions you just need a place to put the week down. You set the pace. Care is collaborative, practical, and paced to what's realistic, especially for those in high-stress roles.
I work exclusively in Tennessee through ClaryT Wellness and under the clinical supervision of Brent Metcalf, LCSW, per Tennessee law.
