About me
Hello! I'm Dr. Melissa, licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals and couples heal, grow, and thrive. I offer a calm, compassionate space where sensitive and empathic people can feel truly heard, understood and supported.
Meaningful connection an essential ingredient a fulfilling life. Whether you’re an introvert or extrovert, whether you are most alive in the forest or sharing a meal in lively conversation with your favorite people, the quality of our relationships shapes our sense of belonging and well-being.
My passion is helping adults connect with their true nature, and be courageous, skillful, and fulfilled in their relationships—at home, at work, and in their communities.
I’m well-suited to working with caregivers, empaths, and highly sensitive people. I also specialize in supporting adults through life transitions—whether you’re facing grief, loss, unexpected change, relationship shifts, a loved one’s diagnosis, or retirement. If you are in (or recovering from) a relationship with an emotionally immature parent, a loved one struggling with addiction, or dealing with a high conflict or antagonistic partner, I’m here to help you. Together, we can make sense of how you are personally impacted, and support you in recovering your personal peace. You don’t have to navigate these moments alone.
My therapeutic approach is interpersonal, practical, and holistic, attending to physical, emotional, mental spiritual aspects of well-being. I bring flexibility and creativity to our sessions to suit your learning style and comfort. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT Tapping) is one of my favorite modalities, for its effectiveness in swiftly reducing the intensity of emotional and physical distress of troubling memories.
I also offer a welcoming, affirming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their loved ones.
I'm available for in person sessions, located near the Traverse Area District Library, overlooking Boardman Lake. For those who prefer the convenience of telehealth, I'm available for video sessions using the HIPAA-compliant Doxy platform. I'm licensed to practice psychology in the state of Michigan; I am also credentialed through PSYPACT, with allows greater continuity of care with my established clients who travel or winter in participating states.
My goal is simple and sincere: to help ease your suffering and support you in building a life that feels more connected, meaningful, and aligned with your heartfelt values.
It’s truly an honor to do this work. If this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out by email or text to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
Thank you for considering me as a guide in your care!
